Honesty and kindness sometimes requires bluntness

I don’t want to make people feel bad, but sometimes you have no choice.

For example, I once worked with a well known recruiting company. They canceled my interview for a position 20 minutes before the event. Ok.

Then they tried to follow up with me multiple times afterwords. I ignored them hoping they would get the hint. They didn’t. They continued to message me and I had to tell them that I don’t wish to ever work with that consulting company again. If your people waste peoples time, they are done.

Listen people, people who work for a living and consultants whose literal time is money don’t need to play games. If you cancel a meeting at the last minute, it clearly shows that a) you don’t know what you are doing b) you can’t care about others time. Either interpretation isn’t helping your reputation and your firms rep.

I am done wasting time with people who don’t respect my time.
