I have paid alot of money for iPhones in the past, and I don’t think that I will get another one.
My phone is 4 years old and it is working fine. iPhones don’t excite me anymore and haven’t for a long time. The only reason I bought them for myself is that companies I work for use them, and it helps to have practical experience.
However increasingly companies are using Android phones. I don’t blame them. If they can save big money on it, then good for them. I have never bought an Android phone. Tried them in the store but it didn’t say buy me.
I think lots of people are getting iPhone fatigue. Maybe there is an ideal shape for a phone, but I think we also like novelty and iPhone has been fairly static for a long time. Personally I am willing to try a foldable phone and I liked the foldable Nokia phones that I had in the past. I think that is a neat design. It would also be awesome to wear a pin and have a real life heads up display. Just something new.
Doesn’t it feel that companies are intentionally holding technology back from us? We had such great gains in the last 20 years and now it has slowed to a trickle. Few companies are spending the R&D that Apple does, and it shows. That was one of the reasons I could justify the iPhone/mac cost. They were always innovating and Ivey had some beautiful and creative designs. I love the lamp shade imac and many of those classic designs. I wish that they would introduce new form factors so that we could have some creativity back in technology.
I hope the future isn’t just seeing devices cheapened to save costs.
