I want a song to reach a point and a chorus. If an intro is longer than 45 seconds I don’t tend to like the song.
So I was at that point where I was ready to give up on a song today and then a very surprising twist happened and it was unique and interesting. I am talking about this song https://chimac.net/kelis-x-justice-milkshake-x-genesis-mashup/
At first it sounded ridiculous until it didn’t. One of the advantages of finding mashups is often I find other music groups that I like and I listen to their stuff and like it. It is an easy way to give new groups a chance, and there are some very creative and talented people.
In the past I once interviewed to be a radio DJ. Even in the small community that I grew up there were a few radio stations in the larger community. I got a compliment for my ability to cold read an announcement, but I didn’t get the job. Which is fine. It was a great experience interviewing anyway.
Am I an IT person or a failed DJ? I think there are many things in our lives that we could do and that doesn’t stop our interest in it. One of the things that I loved to do when I had long driving commutes is listen and find new groups on streaming apps. I loved my playlist and when I stopped driving long distances I didn’t subscribe anymore.
Music is an expensive hobby and working in IT had been more reliable. Still if money was no issue, I would be involved with music more. There need to be better ways for people to discover talented groups. It is a crime how many talented groups are not known and appreciated.
