Yesterday I got something that I never had before. An official extension of a short-term contract.
Now I had been given additional time on other consulting jobs that I worked before. But nothing like the potential end date at the end of the year. It was clear that this client wanted my help.
So that feels really good. I am not saying this to brag, but when you show your value and others see it it makes you feel good.
Many times working in IT you have the feeling that you are just doing a checkbox job. That is, doing something just to do it for some internal or regulatory purpose. That is fine and necessary, but it isn’t very fulfilling and kind of feels stifling and boring after years of doing it.
Being able to do creative and interesting work daily and getting paid for it. Sign me up.
