Today was the first time I used a laptop that had Presence sensing. I do not like it.
It was annoying. When I’d move to my other laptops on my desk it would dim the screen and it would turn off and on when I went to get something. I don’t need that level of security or power saving.
As you can imagine having presence sensing on multiple laptops on the same desk would be overwhelming. It might be nice in a highly secure environment, but for home office use it isn’t something that I can use.
I turned it off. I tried it for several hours but it was just not worth it to me. Plus it felt kinda creepy that the camera was off and the computer could still tell when I slightly moved away from it to turn to another computer. Too sensitive for me.
So this is the first thing that I don’t like about the new hp laptop OmniBook X. It is not an HP exclusive but something that many vendors offer.
I also turned off the night screen dimming. With a projector that I use in darkness, it can be annoying to see the brightness randomly go up and down due to the projector light reflecting on it.
Now I will test the projector image. I am excited. I think it would look the best I have seen so far.
