For the last three months I have been eating a salad everyday. Here are my results.
- Change in waistline. My waistline has gotten slimmer. I wasn’t fat before but today my waistline is where it was 15 years ago. That was my goal in being healthy and making better food choices.
- Less craving for sweet things. Since I have eaten salad I feel more energetic and less desiring of sweet things like I used to eat before. I didn’t eat lots of sweet things before, but now I eat even less. This isn’t to brag, it just kind of evolved.
- Small changes in weight over the course of weeks. I have had less fluctuations in weight the past 3 months than in the past. Sometimes my weight would vary by 8 lbs but now it varies very little.
- Less heavy, but not dramatically. I actually weighted less a month ago but my waist was not slimmer. There isn’t a direct relationship between my waist size and my weight. The reason that I am focusing on my waist size is that my doctor said that waist size is a good proxy for healthy weight. She said that weight is a misleading number since muscle weights more and that isn’t always obvious. It is possible that I have more muscle, I certainly have been more active.
- Slow changes in eating habits. Besides sweet things, I crave less salty and other flavors. I rarely have food cravings that I had in the past. I also have been taking a new multivitamin at the same time, but it is a cheap generic and I doubt it is the reason for the weight loss.
This is my experience. It has been a fun experience and I am going to continue to eat a variety of vegetables and fruits. It is really amazing how good you feel when you knock off the processed food. I understand why people eat processed food, but it really hurts us in so many ways both short and long term.
