Everyone needs a buddy

I had a girlfriend who lived with me bring home a puppy one day. We did not discuss it first and I was not happy. Taking care of a pet is a commitment and one that I wasn’t sure she was ready for.

However since she bought the puppy and couldn’t return it I started to take care of it. It was a golden retriever and so sweet and fun. It was smart and almost immediately understood that he had to go outside to go to the bathroom.

However with time, she became bored. I bought lots of toys, but she wasn’t interested in playing with them unless I played with her with them. I happened to mention this to my doctor that she was having separation anxiety when I left and the doctor suggested I get her a buddy. Why not?

So I got her a buddy and she loved it. She played with her new friend and it was like she was a puppy again. I was so pleased that she could enjoy life again, and she didn’t have the separation anxiety that she used to have when I left for work.

Everyone needs a friend even if you don’t talk with them much. We are all connected, even people who are more introverted. I am on the edge of being both an introvert/extrovert according to tests and so I can understand both sides. I don’t have a strong preference. I will be extroverted when necessary and I can be introverted at times as well. Life requires a balance and we all have to find what makes us happy.
