Ever have moments in your life when you realize you are poor?

The rich declare themselves poor…
The rich declare themselves poor…
The rich declare themselves poor…

People don’t associate people who work with technology as being poor, but we can all have difficulties in our lives sometimes.

This is not a complaint. Just giving you a heads up that there are times that I realize that I must be poor. Here is my list.

  • Hearing on my first major job upgrade that the last person they hired walked out during lunch hour and didn’t come back. I have never walked off a job. Not to praise myself, but because I needed the money to pay the bills.
  • Seeing my boss once give me a Christmas bonus by reaching in his wallet and a stack of $100 bills was there that he handed to me. Ok then. I have never had a wallet stuffed to the brim with $100 bills. I felt rich when I had a couple of $20s in there.
  • Watching YouTube videos like Hoovies garage and him buying 5-6 figure cars like they are no big deal. When I buy a car it takes me years to pay it off. Its hard to imagine people who can just pay it off immediately.
  • When I talked with my chiropractor and told her that I could afford to have a session with her because I was paying out of pocket every two weeks. She was making small talk and mentioned that some clients do it everyday and I was impressed that they could afford paying out of pocket everyday. She said that when people are sick they will pay anything to get better. I want to get better too, but it doesn’t help me if I am poor and sick!
  • When I overhear coworkers saying they just bought a house, new car or took a trip that cost tens of thousands of dollars with their family. I have never done that. My cars were used, my house was cheap in a bad neighborhood that I lost due to job loss, and I would never even think of taking a vacation that cost several thousand dollars. Yet this is common and normal from what I understand.
  • When I saw people getting plastic surgery and hearing that it cost tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is their money, but people will have to accept me being ugly because I’m not paying that to make someone else happy.

Now what I have no problem paying money for no matter the cost is my health and well being. Other than that, money is to invest in helping others and not in things that have questionable value.
