It is foolish to pay for something you can get for free. I was just guilty of doing that in Marvel Strike Force.
They had an event that allowed you to upgrade your character. I paid for the upgrades that I needed so that my character could get the upgrade. I got upgraded and I thought everything was fine.
Then in another part of the game there was the ability to upgrade the same character with rare type of credit. The problem is that when I did those two upgrades, it turns out that they were the same upgrades that I had already done. However I couldn’t access the higher upgrades in that part until I paid for the lower upgrades. So in effect I paid for nothing since I could have just upgraded it with the rare type of credit.
Am I going to be helped by the upgrades that I did to other characters? Sure. However I probably wouldn’t have spent that money if I had the ability to upgrade with the rare credits. Those didn’t appear until after the event started and 24 hours later and wasn’t communicated. It was a sneaky move. Scopley does sneaky things like this in other ways, and it doesn’t make you feel good about spending money.
So the answer is to stop spending money again. I want the game to survive, but when they break their customers trust what are we supposed to think?
Paying money for something that is free and you aren’t transparent with your customers? Lack of trust in the future.
