i was thinking what I wanted to share today, and I was thinking for an hour and I realized that I was overthinking it.
Everyday I have 3 goals in which I want to improve. I think of them first thing in the morning, and then check in at night to see if I am doing them. Today my goals were: check critical thing gets done, rearrange my desk to be more ergonomic and clean the dust from my laptops. I have done those.
No this isn’t to brag but rather that it is easy to forget things that need to be done unless you make it a priority. Having a routine each morning and night in which you check in with yourself, keeps yourself accountable.
I think one of the faults of people who are conscientious is that our standards are not others standards. So we feel a little frustrated when others are not doing what we think is the minimum to be done. The fact is that we can’t see another persons work or process so we should withhold judgment if they are getting results and management is happy with them.
We should all treat each other with respect and kindness no matter what evidence we want to believe or ideas about someone else character. It is not our job to police others. Our job is to do our job and let the manager be responsible for the outcome of the team.
Don’t assume responsibility that isn’t yours.
