Everything in life is about balance. Even in your personal time, you can learn helpful life lessons.

For example I play Marvel Strike Force and part of an alliance. Its a team of individuals and being part of the team we get benefits from being in an alliance. Everyone has to be in an alliance, but choosing the helpful alliance takes a little work and effort.

In my past alliance I was at the top. It helped my other teammates but it limited me. I wasn’t in other alliances because I was loyal, but that loyalty didn’t help me it hurt me.

When you do too much for your alliance/team they can get lazy. One of the things that the game does to help make this fair is that if a team mate doesn’t play for 14 days they are kicked from the team. It may sound harsh, but in that time, many events happen that the missing player doesn’t contribute towards and can cause the team to lose on rewards that are double or more for winning.

In my alliance currently we had a Kraken (high spender) join and they haven’t contributed to the team in an easy and fundamental way. There is a way in the game to contribute energy that helps everyone in the team get more experience and level up their characters. That person hasn’t done it, and my gut feeling is that they are going to be kicked out either through inactivity or on purpose. In the team chat it was encouraged to invest in that area and it shows the total for each players and the last time I checked they hadn’t contributed once. That kind of selfishness is not team work.

Yet on the other hand was the example of people who will buy every character and spend so that they can help the team get though new missions and difficult content. When enough people spend money, it lifts the entire team and they can be carried by others. I have done this in the past and I often was the first person to complete a mission. I am not bragging, but just sharing that if you want to help others you have to be strong first yourself.

Eventually the other team members get stronger and the entire team benefits from even one persons investment in spending money. Alliances help make spenders and no spenders compete more closely and that is helpful for everyone.

Now that I have the latest strongest character I am going to relax my spending and allow some of the other team members to pick up the slack. There are always new characters/things to invest in but I am ok with just seeing what happens. I feel good about what I have accomplished and the team mates that I have helped. No one is forced to carry anyone else in life. You have to want to do it. I want to help others, in real life or not.
