In my current consulting job I have access to Copilot from three different versions. One is the Copilot that is on the sidebar of Teams, the second is on the sidebar from Outlook, and the third is M365 Copilot which is a stand alone application.
Now in the past when I said I was having difficulties I was using the Teams shortcut to Copilot. I just assumed they were all the same, but I started to learn there might be some differences when I tried to use the Copilot on the Outlook sidebar. It didn’t have Copilot Analyst and Copilot Researcher which are new of this writing.
So I went back to using the Teams linked Copilot. Then a few days ago I saw that M365 Copilot was available so I tried that. That worked even less reliability than the teams version. When it did work the output was different, so I asked it why the output was different from an earlier Teams chat on a different teams.
What it said was surprising. It said that the huristic matching was more strict on the Teams linked Copilot than the M365 Copilot. That is the M365 Copilot could potentially match more, but be less reliable. It didn’t say that when it was doing it. There was no choice between hey dummy, do you want less reliable information? Sure I do! (Sanford & Son reference)
So if you aren’t getting the results you like with one Copilot. Try another. Instead of doctor shopping, we can introduce a new term AI shopping.
