Compliments can give a lifetime of pleasure

My brain has a funny habit of randomly reminding me of things. Sometimes those bring me pleasure and sometimes they are painful. Mostly they make me feel good.

For no reason I remembered a compliment that a classmate gave me a long time ago. She said I looked attractive at a time that I didn’t consider myself attractive. I thanked her but was so surprised and felt so good after she said it.

I have thought of that compliment off and on over the years. I thought about how it made me feel and that the way that others see me is positive. Even though men rarely get compliments, we cherish every compliment we get.

Early on I learned the value of compliments. Not as a way to manipulate others and get what I want, but as a way to make others feel good. I was often called sweet in the past because I wanted to make the people I knew and cared about feel good. I think we have lots of opportunities in life to share the positive ways in which others make us feel and help us.

Your compliments can change someones life for the better. Be generous with sincere praise.
