I asked my consulting company if a client wanted their laptop back and it took them a month to respond.
Then they said they would send a box and they never sent one. I have to conclude that they don’t want it returned.
It is really surprising the number of companies that don’t seem to care if they get their equipment back. I don’t know what causes this, I guess the hassle isn’t worth it.
Which then means that for remote workers, laptops are like a severance package. You may end up with one, and probably more than you need.
I’m not complaining. It is just interesting how companies value their time and resources.
