An article from Tom’s Hardware is titled “Microsoft reportedly ‘struggling’ to convince companies to buy Copilot — yup, employees prefer ChatGPT”.
In it it talks about how ChatGPT has the first-mover advantage. People are used to it and since it came out earlier, people are slow to switch to Copilot even when their company buys it for them.
Which is a problem because if employees are using ChatGPT with confidential documents and information for a company, that is going to be a problem with information possibly leaking. Its not a great situation for employees or companies who don’t use Copilot.
Now having used Copilot I have to say that in some ways it is more helpful and less helpful than ChatGPT. I like that Researcher can take an hour to research. This is longer than what ChatGPT teams does and I think gives more information. At least it has more sources.
Its not my goal here to fully compare them. I have talked about them in past articles and you can use the search to find specific topics. Its is not an easy quick answer if people should use ChatGPT or Copilot. You really have to have hands on use to decide what works best for you. Even though I don’t create a ton of Microsoft Documents, I haven’t found that the Copilot integration has helped me with them. I tried to use Copilot in Excel and that was useless, but that was only one time so it might have been that data.
I think people need to have a dedicated AI person who helps them use this technology. It isn’t intuitive for the average person.
