I made an easy $1000 just by checking the states unclaimed property website where I have lived in the past several years.
Why am I sharing this? I just claimed another $90 from CT when I lived there and it was years after I worked for a company that extra credit card funds were reported. I don’t remember the details but if the state thinks the money is mine, who am I to argue?
Since I often moved and lived in different states I have had the same experience getting money from IL and NY. It was easy to do. The form asks some basic information and then when it is sure that you are the person who claims the money is owed to, it will send you a check to your current address. At least that is what other states did in the past. Then I simply use the banking app to deposit the check. Easy.
There was a small snag however on their website. They said that they had to verify my browser and since Brave protects from weird things it was failing their test. I had to temporarily turn off the Brave Shield and then it verified fine. Then I turned the Shield back on. Easy to do one click of the button/shield icon in the URL line. Rarely do I have to turn off the Brave Shield but I am glad it is working to protect me. Sometimes government websites will say they are only compatible with IE/Edge so then you have to switch to those browsers. Now they are getting more standardized.
Good luck on getting your dough!
