I tried ChatGPT agent and I wasn’t impressed.
It is supposed to be able to do things that extend what ChatGPT can do for you. For this test I asked it to fetch the new articles from Bleepingcomputer.com which is a security site and send it to me in an email. I thought that would be a simple request to start with.
It got right to work, but when it was time to send the email to me it asked me to login and use my username/password to be able to send the email. There is a risk in doing this. When you allow an API or anything to access your password, it increases the risk it will be compromised. For a persons main email I would not suggest doing this, but if you wanted to set up a dedicated email that only does this, then that is a reasonable work around.
It sent the email but I wasn’t impressed. The entire process required me to babysit it and it was slow. It took perhaps 15 minutes and the quality of the text that was sent in the email was poor. If you don’t use RSS then you should. If you do use RSS, then this solution is worse than RSS.
I haven’t tried to use the agent further. I think its too immature to use at the present for my limited imagination of how it can help me.
