I used Claude 4.5 Sonnet today and ChatGPT 4.1 and I was surprised at how different they were. First the quick answer ChatGPT 4.1 is better.
Now the longer answer. I uploaded an excel document that I had done that was fairly simple and asked it to generate step by step instructions for configuring what I suggested in my Excel document. Claude could not do it. I repeatedly asked Claude but it stopped at number 7 of 26 and nothing I said could make it go beyond that. i had to say continue to get the next seven so I did that about 4 times in total. Then it wouldn’t combine what it had done.
The first time I asked ChatGPT 4.1 to do this it did it. I then asked it to put it in an excel document and it did that correctly. Compared to Claude, it worked the first time and exactly what I wanted.
Now I am not a Claude fan. I tried it in the past and I was not impressed. I am not impressed with its company and I don’t like wasting my time. I have felt that I have wasted my time trying other ChatGPT alternatives. Gemini was interesting and I used it a few weeks ago but it also was wrong more than ChatGPT on facts so I stopped using it.
AI isn’t great right now. I have been using it less lately.
