For the first time I asked for something that ChatGPT couldn’t produce in 15 minutes.
This is both helpful and unhelpful. Helpful that it didn’t say no to my question, and unhelpful that it would take this long. It feels like I am being queued for resources.
Now at $20 a month what should I expect am I right? However when Microsoft brags about its quantum chip and advanced computing, it feels kind of hollow that their paying customers are working with technology that is slow. There is no reason that something like this shouldn’t be instant.
Oh I hear you saying, wouldn’t that require overbuilding things? No, it would require using what is already built.
One of the neat things about Azure is that for computing that isn’t time sensitive you can use what are called Spot machines. They will work cheaply, but you don’t have control when they work. Those machines already exist, but OpenAI doesn’t think that its customers time is valuable enough to use them and pay for them.
We don’t lack infrastructure to solve our problems. We lack the desire to use them.
