I was in the kitchen yesterday and I heard a loud Clunk come from my AC unit. I rushed and the AC air exchanger was shaking and I turned it off. When I turned it back on it was shaking so I turned it back off.

Even though it was Sunday the homeowner said to call the AC guy and when I did and explained what happened, sent video/pictures I think he/I came to the same conclusion. This was the same sound that happened when part of the fan broke when the old unit was exchanged about a year ago, and now this unit looks like it failed in the same way.

Now did anything I do abuse this? No. It is in a sealed unit and I can only turn it off and on. He is going to come tomorrow morning and probably exchange the unit but this unit cost about $900 and roughly worked for a year. So about $75 a month. Not terrible, but not what you expect either.

He said that it could replace it with another used unit and this is the perfect time to do so. Its in the 70s and so its not freezing or burning and if it has to be ordered with my fan and the other AC working I can get by for a long time. Ideally I’d rather taken an older unit that works than a newer unit that may take weeks or months to arrive. However its not really my choice, its the homeowners choice.

I have to say that I have lived here for almost 2 years and in that time the AC has broken, the Washer/Drier was replaced and there have been regular electrical and plumbing issues. It is supposed to be a luxury building but it has not felt that way. It is clean and has a security guard, but its pretty much the same as another building a friend of mine lives in that is hundreds cheaper. I am not complaining but luxury rarely means anything useful. You pay for the promise, and the reality is always worse.
