If you have turned on the sidebar in Brave Browser one of the options is an AI assistant named Leo. Here is my experience using it.

First, it compares favorably to ChatGPT-4. I think it is better than that. I both asked it to summarize my last article and write a poem and it did better than when I asked for those same functionalities with Copilot MS AI.

Now compared to Claude another AI I think it is about the same. It did it correctly the first time and it was free and easy. Not needing to create an account is a big help for people. Also having it easily accessible is very nice for people. I like that Brave has better privacy and security around its queries. I would trust Leo far more than Copilot and I will use it more frequently in the future.

In the past, I am not a big AI person but it is slowly growing on me. I was so impressed when I used Claude by Anthropic. Now let’s use AI to talk about AI. Here is what Leo said when I typed in “Claude AI vs Leo AI”

Claude AI and Leo AI are two AI chatbots with different strengths. Claude AI, built on “Constitutional AI,” emphasizes ethics and safety, excelling in tasks like summarization and code-writing. Leo AI, with a transformer-based architecture, excels in content generation, chatbot conversations, and language translation. Neither chatbot is explicitly better than the other, as the choice depends on your specific needs. As of now, neither Claude AI nor Leo AI is open-source, and information regarding their cost isn’t provided in the text. For official details, you should visit their respective websites or contact the companies directly.

Now here is the same prompt in the Brave Browser search

Claude AI and Leo AI are two prominent artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots that have gained significant attention in recent times. Both AI models are designed to generate human-like text responses, but they differ in their underlying architecture, capabilities, and philosophies. In this analysis, we will delve into the key differences and similarities between Claude AI and Leo AI.

Architecture and Training

Claude AI is built on top of a large language model (LLM) developed by Anthropic, a safety and research company focused on AI. The model is trained on a massive dataset of text from the internet and is designed to generate responses that are helpful, harmless, and honest. Claude AI uses a unique approach called “Constitutional AI” to ensure its outputs are ethical and respectful.

Leo AI, on the other hand, is built on top of a transformer-based architecture and is trained on a large corpus of text data. The model is designed to generate responses that are coherent, informative, and engaging. Leo AI uses a combination of natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithms to generate text.

Capabilities

Claude AI is designed to excel in tasks such as:

  1. Summarization: Claude AI can summarize long pieces of text into concise and accurate summaries.
  2. Editing: Claude AI can edit text to improve its clarity, coherence, and grammar.
  3. Q&A: Claude AI can answer questions on a wide range of topics, from science and history to entertainment and culture.
  4. Code-writing: Claude AI can generate code in various programming languages, including Python, Java, and C++.

Leo AI is designed to excel in tasks such as:

  1. Content generation: Leo AI can generate high-quality content, including articles, blog posts, and social media posts.
  2. Chatbot conversations: Leo AI is designed to engage in natural-sounding conversations with users, using context and understanding to respond to questions and statements.
  3. Language translation: Leo AI can translate text from one language to another, including popular languages such as Spanish, French, and Chinese.

Philosophy and Ethics

Claude AI is built on the principle of “Constitutional AI,” which emphasizes the importance of ethics and safety in AI development. Claude AI is designed to generate responses that are helpful, harmless, and honest, and is trained on a dataset that reflects these values.

Leo AI, on the other hand, is designed to generate responses that are coherent, informative, and engaging. While Leo AI does not have a specific philosophy or ethics framework, it is designed to be a helpful and informative AI model.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Claude AI and Leo AI are two distinct AI chatbots with different architectures, capabilities, and philosophies. Claude AI is designed to excel in tasks such as summarization, editing, and code-writing, while Leo AI is designed to excel in tasks such as content generation, chatbot conversations, and language translation. While both AI models have their strengths and weaknesses, Claude AI’s focus on ethics and safety sets it apart from other AI models. Ultimately, the choice between Claude AI and Leo AI will depend on the specific needs and goals of the user.

The fastest answer might be to use both and then see which you prefer. For me, Leo is good enough and will work for me.
