Why? I didn’t like the Dell laptop I bought as a spare. Now with this laptop I can better test things for my current mac using client.
So this will bring the number of laptops for me to 3. Maybe I don’t have a social media addiction but a laptop addiction? Still this is less than the 5 laptops I have had in the past. So that helps.
My electrical bill was $190 last month. Normally it is about $80. The reason is because the AC runs almost continuously to keep it cool during the hot hot summer. I don’t mind that, and I just budget for it.
Why am I sharing this? I didn’t want to buy a mac, but I needed it to compare what I had with the client. I also needed it because I wanted to upgrade to the newest version soon and then test it for possible client upgrade as well. If you are selling yourself as a mac consultant, you better know your stuff.
Now the reason I didn’t buy a mac laptop is because often I had multiple ones from clients I was helping. There was no need. One of the helpful things in working in IT is that you often don’t need to buy a personal laptop. I have bought them in the past 5 years as my salary has increased and I wanted to keep my personal information off of a work computer. The employers said it was ok to use them for personal use so you should always make sure of that before you do so. Still I was extra careful, because having an IT person cause an IT problem is not good for anyone.
The new 15 inch Mac Air seems very nice. I can’t wait to use it more.
