Today I got another LinkedIn scam attempt. I had one last week as well.
In both examples, someone contacted me through LinkedIn inMessages and in the first example acted as though she was a coworker who wanted to share someone who she thought would benefit from what I share. It felt fishy so I didn’t respond them.
Today the person just asked straight out to talk with me, and was vague. When I clicked on their link, the name of the profile and the LinkedIn URL name didn’t match. Clearly the account had been hijacked or at the very least wasn’t trustworthy. Didn’t respond to that either. I reported both of them.
There is almost no reason to be unprofessional on LinkedIn. Any signs of it should be a warning that this is not someone who they claim to be. I sometimes wonder if these are tests by companies that are interviewing me, but I don’t think they would bother. Still if I did fall for one of these then I deserve not to be trusted. If I can’t keep myself safe, why should a company trust me?
