I just realized something the other day. The Muppet babies were in danger.
Why? The nanny would ignore them and only come in when it was too noisy. They put themselves in dangerous situations and she didn’t care until it bothered her noise comfort levels.
It is remarkable what happens when you watch a show as an adult that you watched as a kid. As a kid you don’t think logically you just believe. As an adult you question the reality, and the reality of many shows that were on in the past is just insane.
One of the most helpful things I have done in my life is to question reality. When I watch YouTube videos I will sometimes stop them playing and ask myself, is this true? Or find the answer that might fill in a gap of knowledge. We absorb information as true without ever vetting it and it only hurts us.
Now of course this show is silly and most of children TV is silly. However I also watched Mr. Rodgers and I tended to believe everything that he said about respecting your neighbors and loving others. As a kid we learned some helpful things along with some unhelpful ones. I feel bad for kids who never watched Mr. Rodgers or Captain Kanagroo. They never absorbed the lessons that would help make them happy and treat others with respect.
Love isn’t just in feeling, it is in doing.
