The problem with AI is its rigidity

I tried to use an apartment hunting service in NYC this week. At first I was thrilled with the guided AI questioning of what my needs where. However at the end I was disgusted with it and it wasted my time.

Everything was going well, and it was really thoughtful. It even allowed me select neighborhoods that I wanted in the zip code I wanted. Great!

Then it had a slider about the time that I was willing to commute. It maxed out at 60 minutes. While this may work for other cities, it does not work for NYC. I wanted to live further than 60 minutes away, but it would not show me properties that were 60 minutes away even though I had selected them earlier with the zip code question it asked me.

Which means that it showed me 30 properties in dating apps style like or no and I couldn’t see a list or quickly see an overview of where they were. I wasted time and none of them were in any of the neighborhoods that I selected. This was extremely frustrating.

I will never use that service again because if you ask a question and then ignore the answer, what is the point? What is the point?
