I just had someone contact me about a job that I worked on 5 years ago. I reached out to the company at the time because I wanted to show the client there was a better way than what they were doing, and for that, I have gotten regular calls from them trying to sell me something.

I told them after I left that job that I was a consultant and had no information to share, and no influence with the customer. I said that the first, second and today for the third time. I asked them each time to take me off their list.

This is not to complain but to share that unless you are rich, everyone is under tremendous pressure. Yesterday another company contacted me that I told them I wasn’t interested and not to contact me again. Honestly some companies don’t realize that if you annoy people who don’t want to be your customers, you will never have a chance to win them over. To be frank, I wouldn’t work with either company after how annoying they have been.

Marketing should be an invitation to experience an easier way to live. Not a contest in attrition to see who can annoy the other the most. Why are people so determined not to respect peoples boundaries when they are told no?
