My old projector found a home with a teacher

When I listed the cheap projector on my buildings internal classifieds for free, it went within the hour to someone who said they were a teacher. I dropped it off at the front desk like they wanted, and now everyone is happy.

It feels good when something that you have can benefit others. I joked with the front desk person that anything that is free goes quickly and hes like because nothing in life is free. Yes, but sometimes things are free and you get more than you deserve.

One of the neat things about giving things away is the knowledge that they are benefiting people passively. Lots of websites talk about passive income, but I like to think of passive karma. When you give something away it is giving you good karma and you don’t have to work to get it. You already did the work in giving it away for free.

This is not to glorify me, but rather to inspire you to be generous with your things and time. Maybe I could have sold it for $100, but it wasn’t worth the hassle to me. However knowing that it will potentially help inspire kids is a great feeling and while I didn’t plan for this outcome, being generous makes you open to better outcomes than you can imagine. The outcomes of being selfish are very poor.

Look around and ask yourself if there is anything you have that you don’t use that someone else might benefit from. Why are you holding on it?
