I just had gotten an LG Ultrawide 34 inch screen and unfortunately it went bad. I did all the troubleshooting I could to fix it, but it still won’t work correctly.
It is unfortunate because I have another of the same model of screen and never had a problem with that one. I can understand that anything can get damaged in transit, so its life that sometimes things don’t work as they should.
The problems are several. It stops showing any image randomly, it has intense flicker, the light is darker in some parts, there are lines and there are ghost afterimages of images that are no longer showing. There are more problems but these are enough to conclude there is something wrong with the hardware. I am fortunate to have more than one laptop to test with, and it had problems with both laptops that I tested with.
So I am back to the one monitor club again. It is ok, I am used to it.
Right now I had to turn the screen off because it was so distracting and impossible to look at. Just because I plugged it back in and turned it on to see if it would come back to life. Nope. Still as bad as it was yesterday.
On my Brands to use and Brands to avoid page I say avoid LG because they crossed the line. I won’t buy LG brands with my money, and I try not to support companies that are unethical. It is very difficult to do that, but when I learn of companies that don’t treat people with respect and dignity I add them to this page. I also highlight brands that I have had good experiences with, so it might help you make a helpful decision.
Of course your mileage may vary. Good luck!
