Another great solar power light – RunACC

I talked about NowLight for Solar power. Another option I have tested and love is called RUNACC.

RUNACC is solar powered with a solar panel in the back. You simply put it in a sunny spot, and then in 24 hours it will refill from empty. It features a 7 hour high intensity light, and works very well being charged by other solar generators like the one I have. Now I can hear the objection already. If it takes 24 hour to completely fill how can I use it at night? The answer is that the first day you can’t. You have to let it charge. However after that, unless you use all 7 hours of light, it will have some left over and during the day if you have enough light it will charge up.

All of this is a non-issue if you have a solar generator or want to plug it in your computers USB port or wall adapter. I think the light output is fantastic. It claims to be 1000lumen and I am not an expert but it roughly seemed about right. That is the equivalent of a 75W incandescent bulb. You can find guides online about lumen output. For me, it light up my office very well and the slightly blue tinged light was acceptable.

The NowLight has a yellow tinge to the light, so I had them both on at full brightness for over 3 hours and they were almost as bright as my two 20 watt LED bulbs. If I had two of the NowLights or two of the RunACC lights I am sure they would have been brighter. Mixing the different colors of white light probably decreased the relative brightness to me I think. Still it was bright enough that I didn’t want to look straight into it because it wasn’t frosted like the LED bulbs. Ideally the RunACC should be ceiling mounted and it would work best. The NowLight is great as a desk light or anyplace you can’t mount a light in the ceiling. It is not harsh to look at. Plus it has another light included so I think its a great value.

Is there a downside to this light? The bluish light might be less flattering to some if you are doing video conferencing or need to look good to someone you are talking to on the computer. The warm yellow light of the NowLight would be more flattering for video conferencing. If you are alone or have no friends, then the RunACC provides more light in my opinion. I don’t think it is the same quality as the NowLight but it works so far.

Now I am living with two solar lights and more hope for the future.
