Saying Goodbye to my iPad – Is there an App for that? (via Mobileman)

Too many drawbacks for this gentleman. He gave it the old college try.

Saying Goodbye to my iPad - Is there an App for that? Since my iPad loaner period is about complete, its time to record what I like and don’t like about the sexiest device to hit the market since…..  well probably ever. If your main activity is light web browsing and email, the iPad is in your sweet spot.  The apps that are made specifically for the iPad are  really few in number, so Safari and Mail will likely dominate your use.   As the regular readers now, I am a fan of Google docs, which coupl … Read More

Mac-ed: Week 3 – I’m trying Redmond, honest (via The Jay Space)

He can’t find any issues with his Mac after 3 weeks of use. Try installing some 3rd party haxies. That will make things fun. Then install Norton for the Mac, and top it off with Adobe CS5. That is a blast to figure out.

Entering week 3, sort of, of living with a Mac. Bottom-line: this things just works. Nothing bad to report, honestly, I have had zero problems so far. No slowdowns at all, no crashes or issues of any kind. I still love all the native applications and even the strange problems with the light sensor have stopped. Battery life has been exceptional, it took a little while to settle down and one calibration to get the battery clock right. Now I can ch … Read More

One Mac devotee moving to Linux (via Later On)

If we were all this brave!

Dan Gillmor at Salon.com: I'm not religious about technology. My strategy is to use what works best, period. This is why, for more than a decade, I've been using a Mac as my primary computer (and had been using Macs for some of my work long before that). Apple's personal computers continue to be the best combination of hardware and software on the market today. So why am I about to migrate to Linux (aka GNU/Linux)? Because Apple is pushing me awa … Read More

I’m a MAC :D (via Burn my Photo)

Another switcher. Willing to give the Mac a try.

Hi guys, it seems that I'm a MAC now. After so many years using Windows OS computers, and after my last "PC" died, I've decided that I wasn't going to buy another one. But if I still needed a computer for work, fun or just stay in touch with the world, what were my options? basically one, just one. It took me a long time to convince myself into buying a MAC. Not that I don't recognize the quality, stability, lack of virus, lack of formats, lack o … Read More

Love at first write (via The Adventures of Lesalina)

Switched to WordPress and loved it from Tumblr. It can be intimidating at first but you quickly learn the system and grow to love it.

Early last year, Indy.com (now Metromix) approached me to start a blog about my "girl about town" experiences. My first post was about an afternoon of drinking Mimosas at an Irish bar – because where else should one drink Mimosas?  I always been passionate about writing and socializing but it never crossed my mind that people were actually paid to combine the two. It was love at first write. Unfortunately, my time with Indy.com was a short but sw … Read More

Apple-ification: Why I Converted from a “PC” to “Mac” (via Manish Mandhyan’s Blog)

One Computer Science major tale.

I am not sure if "Apple-ification" is an actual word, but it should be used to describe the act of switching to a Mac. I vaguely remember the advertisements that used to run on TV (not sure if they still do), their premise being – "I'm a Mac" , "I'm a PC", etc. I always looked at the Mac computers with a fair bit of skepticism. I knew they were well-engineered computers that looked awesome, but was not sure whether they would be able to replace m … Read More
