Ode to comedy

What is funny is Bill Maher, George Carlin and Richard Pryor,

They brought the art form so much higher.

Eddie Izzard, Sam Kinison, and Johnny Carson of course,

Took the reins and really rode that horse.

What I love are situations unexpected and true.

Like when Steve Martin had the call on Johnny Carson from you know who.

Or when Richard Pryor applied for a job,

With a white interviewer who was more than a nob.

The funniest things in life show how ridiculous things are,

That loving behavior can be so near and so far.

Amazon.com: Sleights of Mind: What the Neuroscience of Magic Reveals about Our Everyday Deceptions 9780805092813: Stephen L. Macknik, Susana Martinez-Conde, Sandra Blakeslee: Books. This is a fun book worth reading. It goes into more detail about magic and other “tricks” than I feel is necessary. It has a companion website that had the multimedia that really brings what the book is talking about to life. If you haven’t taken any psychology classes this will be new material, but if you have this will be review to you.
