A week doesn’t make any difference with web traffic

Monday Monday

I didn’t post for a week and it didn’t make any difference in the web traffic I received. In fact, on Monday my views were higher than last week. So clearly posting is less important  than the stuff I have already posted. Interesting.

I like surfing and trying out new WordPress plugins. I tried one that said it would increase SEO by suggesting terms and analyzing your writing, but I wasn’t impressed. My goal isn’t really to get views, it is to share things that I think will help the average person. If someone wants to see something added, I am open to suggestions.

Broken Links WordPress plugin not working?

English: Screenshot of the WordPress Plugin OSM

I really like the Broken Links WordPress plugin. It scans all the web links on my website, and tests them to make sure they work. If they don’t work, it gives me a list and then I can try them to double-check they don’t work.

However about 6 months ago it stopped working. It might have been because I added new plugins in that time. Anyway, I deleted it and reinstalled and now it is working great. This is just to share that reinstalling plugins sometimes makes them work again. Most of the time plugins just work, and they continue to work through WordPress upgrades.

Stories from my life: I am a survivor

Wikipedia - Cancer Survivor

I was waiting for the elevator and a seasoned black woman walked up to me. She was panting like she was in pain, so naturally I asked “Are you ok?”

“I’m fine,” she said. “I just finished with a spa treatment and it was more intense than I expected.”

We both got on the elevator to go to our destination and continued talking.

“I am a two-time cancer survivor so I sometimes get winded.” she explained.

“I’m glad that you are ok.” I said. “I don’t think I have survived anything” I joked with her.

“Oh I’m sure you have,” she said. “Life can throw some curve balls.”

“Yes it can I agreed.” I smiled and the bell rang that we were at her floor.

“Thanks for listening” she said.

“No problem.” I said. “Good luck!”

Sometimes all you have to do is show the tiniest bit of compassion and people respond to it like a thirsty man in a desert. I know how good it feels when people listen to me, so I want to share that with others.

Book Review: Living the 7 Habits: The Courage to Change (9780684857169): Stephen R. Covey: Books

Amazon.com: Living the 7 Habits: The Courage to Change (9780684857169): Stephen R. Covey: Books. So I loved the 7 Habits of Highly Effective people, but I did not like this book. I could barely read 60 pages and I had to stop. There was no new insight or thoughts of his work. He just repeated once again, what he had said in the first book. He needs to cover new territory. I would skip this book if you have read any of his others.
