Is Microsoft trying to end the reign of mobile carriers? (MSFT Skype Nokia)… – StumbleUpon. Makes sense what he is saying. Is this Google’s long-term plan? Interesting perspective isn’t it? I don’t credit that MS has that kind of plan. They have trouble executing on the small things.

Betalogue » Word 2011: More on ‘This is not a valid file name’ error message.  The further restrictions on filenames is surprising.  I wonder why they made this choice?  The bottom line here is that you should avoid any special characters other than A-Z,1-9 when dealing with Microsoft Products.

Microsoft Word cannot be opened because of a problem.

Turns out there are two solutions.

  1. Update the Service Pack 1 & 2 and the 12.2.5 update
  2. Make sure that Microsoft Word is inside the Microsoft Folder.  Use spotlight to find its current location and drag it into the Microsoft folder in the Applications folder.
