Nice writeup by Lex at Macworld. It seems that lately there has been more hacking interest in the Mac. I wonder why?

I have been using Sophos on my Mac and it has worked great. It has found a ton of viruses just surfing the web. Although I have to say that the most viruses I get are from using StumbleUpon. I wonder why they don’t scan the websites they catalog for viruses and then delist them?

The Towson Hack: The mystery of vanishing iTunes credit | Phones | iOS Central | Macworld. Interesting that Apple hasn’t solved this yet. Apple does seem to have problems with security. I wonder why they haven’t been hacked more. I don’t wish that of course, but just surprised.

Mac OS X can’t properly revoke dodgy digital certificates | Operating Systems | Macworld. Interesting that EV Certs are the cause of the problem on the mac. Apple looks at EV Certs differently and so you can appear to have a trusted webpage loaded when you actually do not. I wonder if Apple will address this in an upcoming Security fix?

Up in the Air | Laptops | Macworld. Yes. This is a mostly complimentary article about Air’s and why people who have them seem to love them. Surprisingly most people seem ok with giving up their CD/DVD disks. I always thought that the people who have invested in software or movies would resist buying a device that didn’t support them built-in, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Migrate Time Machine backup to new Mac in Lion | Operating Systems | Macworld. This is a very thoughtful thing for Apple to do. Sometimes I am surprised by the thoughtfulness they put into their products. Other times I am surprised by the overt marketing that exists. I suppose it is a hard thing to balance the needs of the users against the needs of Apple.
