OSX Lion dont work with my Internet…: Apple Support Communities. Interesting that companies don’t make it easier to make their products work. I would avoid Olicard hardware just because of the poor support. Thanks robertobb.

Ok boys,

I have the official drivers of Olicard 145 for OSX LION!!!!!!!!! They work fine!!!!

To download just click here:

BlackArmor Discovery crashes with OS…: Apple Support Communities. Bad that it crashes, but good that the update was quick and fixed it. This kind of support makes me more likely to buy a Seagate NAS in the future if I needed one.

HP LaserJet M1522 Scanning in Lion?: Apple Support Communities. Thanks DocStan. Normally using old software causes problems, but I suppose it is worth trying when nothing else works.

HI.

I just got my printer scanning on the network.  It works from both my iMac and MacBook (wirelessly) and here’s how:

1.  GO to HP’s website:  www.hp.com and click on “Support and Drivers” at the top

2.  Click on “Drivers and Software” on the next page

3.  Search for the M1522   (I have a M1522nf) and click on the printer that you want

4.  THIS IS KEY:  When the list of OS comes up choose “Mac OS X”  WITH NO VERSION EXTENSION – that is don’t go to “Mac OS X 10.7″

5.  Download and install the most recent version of hte driver.  I ended up with:

HPLaserJetM152MFPseries1.4.0.dmg

6.  Run the program and install the software.

You do not need to plug the USB cable into the printer if it is a networked printer.

7.  You can then scan from “HP Director” – the program you’ve installed.

Image Capture doesn’t work, you need to use the HP software, but so far that works well for me.  I’ve done it on both my Macs.

Maclive.net:: Keeping Two Macs in Sync. This is an old story, but I looked at the latest version of FoldersSynchronizer and it is Lion compatible. I had a friend ask about this. Personally ChronoSync seems like a better product to me and so he is having me install that for him. I will let you know if he likes the product.

MacBook Pro 13 Teardown

MacBook Pro 13. It is fascinating how beautifully Apple equipment is built isn’t it? Even taking them apart shows their great design.

OS X Lion freezes at login screen App…: Apple Support Communities. Interesting that also the App Store is slow as well. jmacbookpro has an update.

To everyone’s interest: my MacBook Pro logic board was finally replaced two days ago, and the problem was still there . So I have been back to the Genius Bar today (again…) with my repaired-but-not-properly-working Mac. Just while the technician was working with my computer, they have received a notification about a new quality program for this same issue.

Those waiting for a software fix, then, wait no more, or wait forever, as it seems that Apple has found something wrong with at least some mid-2010 Logic Boards. It was not Lion’s fault, after all…

So, if you have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15” which experiences a spinning-ball freeze at login with OS X Lion, check Apple’s support page, as they should post news quite soon. You will probably have to take your computer to an Apple Store; then, if your computer’s serial number corresponds to an affected machine, Apple will change your Logic Board for a new revised one (free of charge, even if the computer is out of warranty).

AirDrop is a Lion/AirPort feature

You can’t use AirDrop over ethernet, so if you try to connect to a wired machine, it won’t work. Kellow goes into more detail below.

I might have found the reason behind the aforementioned behavior:

The AirDrop feature is apparently a Lion/AirPort-feature, and not a Lion/network-feature, meaning, if the iMac is connected to the network through a cable (RJ45), the above described behavior is the result.

The third issue mentioned, is apparently just how AirDrop works. AirDrop needs to be “activated” by Finder, which opens a ad hoc network though the AirPort. This does limit the use cases a lot.

Now, if only Apple would consider implementing AirDrop in iOS, the use cases would make a lot more sense…

Mac Mini Media Centre | The Hickensian | Hicksdesign – StumbleUpon. Some great details and experience with this setup. Personally I would only get a Mac TV if I wanted to screen share an iPad. Otherwise I would use a Mac Mini like he did.
