When Cold, We Want Romance (Movies) | Psychology of Romance. Maybe this explains why poor people seem to have more children than rich people. They don’t love each other more, they are just trying to keep warm!

Book Review: The Illustrated Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales (9780517285251): Grimm, Arthur Rackham: Books

Amazon.com: The Illustrated Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales (9780517285251): Grimm, Arthur Rackham: Books. This is a beautifully done book with great artwork. Some of the stories are hard to grasp the meaning of. I don’t agree with the message of the stories, but they are thought provoking.

Has anyone watched a SF show called Lexx?

I found it on Netflix and because I like Science Fiction I watched it. The first season was pretty good, but then it quickly got worse. This is not a rant about the show, but more of a question of why?

Why do shows like this get made? With all the great fiction that has been written, why is so little produced as movies? I understand that people don’t want to mess with classics, but some just is crying out to be made. How can people not appreciate some of the fine fiction classic that are available? Does this mean that the people who make movies don’t believe that best-selling books will be popular movies?

Why are the worst movies made from classics? Is our collective IQ going to grow with more Rambo movies?

Hands-on: running Haiku alpha 3 on a netbook. If you used Be OS in the past, you will think it has come back from the dead. It was great fun to use Be OS in the past and I tried to start a user group, but at that time people only wanted to run Windows 95. It is obvious that this is a dead OS, but still fun to play around with. Perhaps when it has better wireless support I might install it on an old laptop and see what it can do.

Watching Twilight Zone: the Movie – Why do we like scifi?

British author H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Tim...

I wonder what about science fiction it is that is addictive? I like the idea that anything is possible and that our reality is more about our choices than the real world. We are so loaded with beliefs, ideas, feelings and influences that it is hard to say that we really experience reality.

Doesn’t it seem sometimes that we feel constricted by our sense of reality? I think that’s part of why scifi is so attractive. You see characters who suffer from their sense of reality is the only one. I am not sure that having an open-mind is always the answer. I think it’s a way to start to examine if what you believe is helping your enjoyment of life or not.
