Gates re iPad:”It’s a nice reader” (via A Man With A Ph.D.)

Interesting that Gates downplays the iPad as just a reader. It is understandable why he would do that however. Still it is a little dishonest that he doesn’t give credit. None of these ideas of a portable connected tablet are new.

Gates re iPad:"It's a nice reader" by CATR The (iPod)Touch(i)Pad [Via asymco] The world’s largest PC company just launched a “media tablet[1]“. Conflating the iPod Touch and iPad brands into “TouchPadHP joins RIM in announcing an integrated OS/device product to compete as a platform vs. iOS and Android (and to some degree even against Windows). There are others waiting in the wings. Presumably, Microsoft is hard at work to release a tablet-compatible Windows sometime near the mi … Read More

Reading magazines on the iPad (via This is What I’ve Learnt)

Offers his experience and thoughts in what makes the iPad good for reading.

Reading magazines on the iPad It wasn’t love at first sight for me. In fact, it took at least 3 months before I really started using the iPad. From the day it was announced, about a year ago, the moniker “oversized iPod” stuck with me, and I honestly didn’t see the potential. But now I am a believer. The iPad is excellent for reading long form content. In fact, itis better than the Kindle! The beautiful colours and proper LED backlit whiteness are joys for the eye, and after … Read More

iPhone 4 iPod Song Progress Bar Won’t Appear

The iPod family with, from the left to the rig...
Image via Wikipedia

Apple – Support – Discussions – iPhone 4 iPod Song Progress Bar Wont ….  Phil in Seattle figured it out:

This issue was really bugging me and I thought I would post my solution. Normally when you’re listening to your iPod on your iPhone 4, you can tap the album art in “now playing” and the progress bar would show up letting you to fast forward/rewind to a specific point in the song. Well, I lost where I was in a podcast I was listening to and couldn’t scan back to where I was, and it was very frustrating.

If you google this issue, you’ll find posts telling you it’s user error, which is even more frustrating. What had happened is that I had overloaded my iPod and I had somehow gotten over capacity on space (how is that possilble?!) and I didn’t notice until I sync’d up with iTunes and the available space said I was over my 14.01 gigs. All I did was remove some songs and delete some pod casts and it started working.
