Thanks paige.findley!

good news: found the following solution

Navigate to ‘/Users//Library/Preferences’ and delete all com.apple.iChat* files. You must then log out for the fix to work and re-setup iChat the next time you log in. I’m pleased to report this solution does work and I can now open and close iChat without having to reenter my passwords each time it starts up.

the above solution is from http://www.selikoff.net/2011/07/20/apple-os-x-lion-review/

How to use iChat for Screen Sharing, etc (via ProMacNYC)

This is helpful to know. Could save some time and effort if you need to help a family member with a Mac.

How to use iChat for Screen Sharing, etc iChat has proven very useful to me for doing “remote support” with clients. Using iChat one can do Screen Sharing, so not only can I “see” the screen of a clients computer, we also have audio ‘chat’ at the same time so we can get off the phone. More importantly I am able “take control” of a clients computer to do “Remote Support”. I can not only see their screen I even have “control” so I can even move their mouse, etc. as if I was there. Its pre … Read More

iChat tip : MSN in ichat (via Macmaster blog)

Smart guy figures out how to get MSN in iChat. Thanks! I don’t use this but from the major comments(need help setting up Hotmail on your iPad?) he received apparently lots of other people did.

iChat tip : MSN in ichat iChat is a great chat application but it you can’t add MSN contacts, but there’s a trick to do this via Jabber. Since Mac os x Tiger iChat has Jabber support which indirectly supports other messaging protocols like MSN, ICQ, AIM and IRC. What is Jabber? Jabber is an open alternative to consumer IM services. Unlike these commercial services, Jabber is a decentralized network. It works similar to email servers in which anyone can download the Jabbe … Read More

iGlasses for Mac – Adjust your iSight brightness, picture quality, brighten, focus, zoom, flip and rotate

From their webpage:

Adjust and manipulate your webcams video settings from within iChat and many other programs, including iMovie, Photo Booth, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype and web-based chat.

I used this program to flip the isight camera in my MacBook so that I could see a statement properly to photograph it.  If you need more control over the built in camera, give this a try.  For $9.95 it could make your life easier.

Another iSight and Flash issue

Apple FireWire webcam
Image via Wikipedia

If your iSight and Flash don’t seem to be working well together youc an use TO_Gary advice to solve the issue.  It worked for MattyEss problem.

I’ve been feeling that frustration for weeks.

Here is what I did to resolve.
-Spotlight search for the word google.
-Show All results
change finder to File Name (not Contains)
Add ‘System Files – ARE INCLUDED’ to the search
In your results.. erase everything that is attached to google and / or google chrome products (leave the mail and text docs and google items in non-google folders (took me 5 minutes). delete All of it.

I re-installed Safari just to be safe and there – isight cam works on every website again.

I have having to do this leg work for these companies making so much money – my time is just as valued as theirs – stay outta my computer!!!!
