Nice details. Perhaps what we like about Apple is the feeling of essential nature not the complexity of choice.

Hello Hans,
Sorry to read none of the suggestions helped. I now recommend you look at deleting the Canon UFR2 from your Mac and then reinstalling it. If you open Finder you can delete the following folders and files. This information is from the Canon UFR2 v2.10 Mac User Guide.
Mac HD > Library > Printers > Canon > UFR2
Mac HD > Library > Launch Agents > jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
Mac HD > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources > en.lproj > CNTD***Z*2*.ppd.gz
(where *** indicates the printer model and 2 indicates the language of driver used)
With all these files deleted and trash emptied, unplug the USB cable to the MF4370dn and restart the Mac. Then run the installer for the v2.10 driver and when it has completed, reconnect the MF4370dn USB cable and open System Preferences > Print & Fax to add the printer queue.

Mac 101: Comprehensive Mac system information. The only purpose I can see this useful for is to inventory your system for insurance purposes. An Apple Store genius or Applecare personel will ask you to directly look for the information they need. An independent Apple tech will find it themselves, and the vast majority of people won’t be bothered by the tedium of doing this after every update or upgrade.
This is a good reminder if you get stuck on the Mac and trying to eject media. I wrote about Unlocker earlier.
So you go about your business using your computer and you want to safely remove or unmount a USB drive or SD card and you get the following message: Windows: “Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device” The device ‘TheNameOfYourDrive’ cannot be stopped now. Try stopping the device again later OS X: The disk “TheNameOfYourDrive” is in use and could not be ejected”. Try quitting applications and try again. Windows: the solution is relatively simple: … Read More

Nice work gentleman. Thanks for sharing!
There may come a day that optical drives are as hard to find as 5.25 floppy drives are today. WinToFlash starts a wizard that will help pull over the contents of a windows installation CD or DVD and prep the USB drive to become a bootable replacement for the optical drive. It can also do this with your LiveCD. You don’t have to worry about scratches on the disc or misplacing your original media discs once you transfer their contents to the flash … Read More

I have used this program and didn’t cause any issues on an XP new laptop of a friends. Still worth looking at CCleaner.
Dear Readers, Here is my full review on Auslogics Disk Defrag (3.1.8.50)…. AA. Cost: Free BB. Is it worth that cost ?: Yes unless you have “raided hard-drives” 1. Ease of use – Super simple there are basically 3 options Analyze , Defrag and Defrag & Optimize 1a. Interface – This version has way more colour to it. Then that of the older versions of this program I have reviewed in the past. Also important to note is the super simple direct to … Read More

I can understand Kristel’s frustration. I felt the same thing with most HP computers I have worked with.
After ongoing issues, and lack of confidence or overall overwhelming experience with HP Customer Support, I have had it with HP. In May of 2008 I was given, from my parents, an HP Pavilion laptop as my graduation present. I had previously had an HP desktop that was my college computer, lasted me all 5 years without any major hangups. I think my CD drive died on it, and I had to have it replaced, but that’s it. So, expectedly, I was in love wit … Read More

Walter the OP (Original Poster) found the solution himself. Great work W!
Yesterday, I was at Fry’s Electronics looking around and decided to go look in the “Print Server” section to see what options they had. I found a fairly cheap product from Arkview:http://arkview.com/eshop/category.php?id=27
The Print Server cost $25, but I decided to try the more expensive Networking USB 2.0 Server PS-M4U1, which cost $40 (this also allows you to share USB storage devices). I hooked it up last night and without any configuration the Samsung CLP-315 was found via Bonjour.
I’ve ran several print tests without issue, so it appears that (as noted earlier in this thread) networking this device and not using it directly connected to USB resolves the issue. I wanted to post back to this thread with my workaround letting people know there’s a couple of fairly cheap options out there.
Please note: This is not an endorsement for Arkview products – it just happened to be the cheapest device I found at Fry’s. I have to assume other devices would work too.via Apple – Support – Discussions – Samsung CLP-315 Color Laser – Issues ….
Apple – Support – Discussions – How can I transfer mail settings from …. Thanks Kappy!
There are two ways:
1. Connect the two computers via a network. Enable file sharing on the MBA. Open Mail on the iMac and select Import Mailbox from the File menu. Select Apple Mail and then navigate on the MBA to the /Home/Library/Mail/MailBoxes/ folder. Select it and click on the Open button. Check the boxes for all the mailboxes you wish to import then click on the Import button.
2. Copy the entire Mail folder on the MBA to a USB flash drive or an external hard drive. Transfer the drive’s connection to the iMac then copy the Mail folder to the /Home/Library/ folder on the iMac. If necessary move the existing Mail folder to the Trash. You will also need to copy the /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist from the MBA to the same location on the iMac.

Turn iTunes Up to 11 MacLife. Is a great article for people who use iTunes and wondered what else it can do but the obvious. Has good pictures and easy to follow.

Boogie Board Paperless LCD Writing Tablet. Very cool. From their website.
The next time you reach for a piece of paper and a pen – Don’t! Grab a Boogie Board instead, the tree-friendly alternative to memo pads, sketchbooks, sticky notes, dry erase boards and other writing/drawing mediums that can be re-used over 50,000 times!

HP laptops not working well with Irish electricity. Should he buy more that have had problems?
My faith in HP laptops is going through a crisis of confidence due to a series of failures or faults experienced by the collection of laptops within the family. In the last few months, we have had: A DV2000 model whose motherboard expired (26 months old); this PC has been recycled. A DV6620 model whose motherboard has just expired after 22 months. A Pavilion DV5Z100 model that is 17 months old that heats up rapidly when in use and then shuts down … Read More
