Went to the Genius bar at the Wellington Green Apple store and spoke to Nicole. First she tried to make the itunes folder “read and write” capable – she said a lot of other permissions issues cures this type of stuff. Then when that didn’t work she looked up an article entitled “itunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play itunes store purchases” under support.apple.com/kb/ts1389 – follow the fourth option to remove the sc info folder. Ta-da! it synced like a champ.

BTW – the keynote remote app on my iphone and keynote on the ipad – bluetooth is no longer supported – what! Oh well. Forgot to ask about the iphone sync hang.

OS X Lion freezes at login screen App…: Apple Support Communities. Interesting that also the App Store is slow as well. jmacbookpro has an update.

To everyone’s interest: my MacBook Pro logic board was finally replaced two days ago, and the problem was still there . So I have been back to the Genius Bar today (again…) with my repaired-but-not-properly-working Mac. Just while the technician was working with my computer, they have received a notification about a new quality program for this same issue.

Those waiting for a software fix, then, wait no more, or wait forever, as it seems that Apple has found something wrong with at least some mid-2010 Logic Boards. It was not Lion’s fault, after all…

So, if you have a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15” which experiences a spinning-ball freeze at login with OS X Lion, check Apple’s support page, as they should post news quite soon. You will probably have to take your computer to an Apple Store; then, if your computer’s serial number corresponds to an affected machine, Apple will change your Logic Board for a new revised one (free of charge, even if the computer is out of warranty).

The proximity sensor is either malfunctioning or you have a case on the iphone that is covering it.

Make sure your software is up to date.

Try reset, restore.

If this does not help, then make an appointment at the genius bar.

Chicago Apple Help and Support

There are many resources in Chicago to get Apple or Macintosh Help or Support. The genius bar is good for most residential customers. Unfortunately they aren’t really allowed to talk about 3rd party products like Microsoft products. You need to get a consultant for that.

Consultants work best when they focus on certain market segments. My strengths are Small Business and Creative professionals. What companies have you found that help Macintosh users who are good in other market segments? I will list them here if you suggest them to me.
