HP LaserJet M1522 Scanning in Lion?: Apple Support Communities. Thanks DocStan. Normally using old software causes problems, but I suppose it is worth trying when nothing else works.

HI.

I just got my printer scanning on the network.  It works from both my iMac and MacBook (wirelessly) and here’s how:

1.  GO to HP’s website:  www.hp.com and click on “Support and Drivers” at the top

2.  Click on “Drivers and Software” on the next page

3.  Search for the M1522   (I have a M1522nf) and click on the printer that you want

4.  THIS IS KEY:  When the list of OS comes up choose “Mac OS X”  WITH NO VERSION EXTENSION – that is don’t go to “Mac OS X 10.7″

5.  Download and install the most recent version of hte driver.  I ended up with:

HPLaserJetM152MFPseries1.4.0.dmg

6.  Run the program and install the software.

You do not need to plug the USB cable into the printer if it is a networked printer.

7.  You can then scan from “HP Director” – the program you’ve installed.

Image Capture doesn’t work, you need to use the HP software, but so far that works well for me.  I’ve done it on both my Macs.

Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update 1.1 …

Interesting side effect.  William Harris solved his own question.

By resetting the power on my USB hub that got the keyboard working – strange though because other things were working on USB just not the keyboard.

You know if you do lots of screen captures this could be a huge time saver.  Nice options.  People say they can’t modify how the Mac behaves. Pshaw!

Speeding up my Wi-Fi b/g network at home (via Matt’s work blog)

If you are using this custom firmware called Tomato you probably don’t need anyone to tell you to turn on afterburner. But just in case, here you go.

my desk

I was trying to watch recorded HD content from my HTPC on my laptop, but it would stutter and be unwatchable. I quickly realised that my wireless network was too slow. So to diagnose the problem I tried copying a large (2 Gb) file across my wireless network and see what sort of speeds I was getting. Only around 700Kb/second! Hmm, that seems awfully slow. I opened up my router‘s config page (Linksys WRT54GL using the patched tomato firmware) and t … Read More
