updating to ios 5 error 1611 on ipad: Apple Support Communities. So why not just say what the problem is? I wish Apple would make friendlier error messages. They have always hidden meaning behind numbers.

I had the same error on my iPad when trying to upgrade via a USB hub off my screen. But connecting into a USB port directly on the PC worked.

Linc Davis has figured it out. Makes sense with the suggestion he gives and the poster said it worked.

Connect the drive directly to a USB port on the MBP.

In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck “Put hard disks to sleep…” if checked.

If neither of the above helps, boot in safe mode and try again.

How to remove/repair ARDAgent.com?: Apple Support Communities

Disk Utility
Image via Wikipedia

This is an error that you can ignore. There always seems to be some in every version with Repair Disk Permissions.

Ignore it. It will crop up every time you repair permissions.

Ref; http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448

As far as I can work out, an update has moved a component of that system function (Apple Remote Desktop) but Disk Utility isn’t aware of that.It reads the original package, can’t find all the bits and throws up an error.

It’ll eventually get fixed in a subsequent update (no doubt followed by a bunch of new error messages!)
