Proxy .PAC file no longer works: Apple Support Communities

FreeWizard gives the missing piece of the puzzle. It makes sense that the sandbox will change how some network software works.

Local PAC will not work bc of the sandbox mechanism in Lion.

Using a remote (http://) should be fine.

FileVault couldn’t be enabled for user…: Apple Support Communities

jfucci has the answer. It appears that once you enable FileVault in Lion, you are able to install ESet Cybersecurity and use it normally.

I, too, have ESet Cybersecurity. I tried just running the repair permissions through the Disk Utility, but that did not work. Only after I uninstalled Eset and then ran repair permissions did FileVault finally enable.

Users munsonid and jtownsend251 both helpfully answer. I have noted the cache deleting trick on another post as well to fix shutdown issues.

To repair permissions

a. open up Disk Utility

b. click on your hard drive (Macinhosh HD)

c. On the right hand side click on Repair Permissions.

To delete caches:

from the Finder’s Go menu, choose Go To Folder.

Go to this folder: /Library

Delete the Caches folder.
