My love/hate relationship with the worlds most damned awkward website – Craigslist website review – StumbleUpon. Does anyone still use Craigslist anymore? It seems really out of date when you can get cheaper things on Amazon or other web services. I stopped using it is because there were too many scammers there.
New Craiglist scam
I applied for a gig on Craigslist that looked legit. The next day I received an email from someone claiming to be an HR person and asking me to complete an online application. The email seemed to be very urgent, and I had a suspicion it may be a scam but I wasn’t sure so I went online and looked at the form.
It asked some basic information like name, email address and phone number. Nothing I haven’t given out before. Then on the next screen it asked me to wait as it “verified” my phone number. The phone call I got was from “Craigslist phone confirmation”!
I reported them to Google phishing, Craigslist as a scam, and forwarded their email to SpamCop. I am considering further action. I should have looked at the email, and if I had I would have seen it was from a Hotmail domain. How does reporting spam to Hotmail work? Do you get a response? Actually I will do that now.
