I JUST WANT IT TO WORK! (via RESOURCE ROOM 220)

Is technology lowering our ability to troubleshoot?

Image via Wikipedia We simply expect things to work and when they don’t we get frustrated. Why? Over this past week I have been frustrated because I have been having difficulty posting correctly to my Blogger Blog, using any of the Blogwriters that I have available.  I don’t believe it was a problem with the blog itself, just the tools I was using to post my writing were not working properly. Then yesterday, my wife and I were going for a hike an … Read More

I’ve moved (via Big Fat Blog)

A switcher from Blogger to WordPress. Blogger does get Google to index first, but i get indexed every 15 minutes. I can write a post and in 15 minutes do a search on Google and it shows up. Probably happens to lots of blogs who produce new content each day.

Back a few years ago, I started up a small trial blog on WordPress, and had just nothing but trouble with it. I don’t know why. Text sometimes disappeared on me, and sometimes even posts. So I went over to Blogger for doing a few creative things. Was not too happy there either. The stock templates sucked, and some of those built by the user community just didn’t function properly. So I decided to give WP another try, and it’s been good. I’ve been … Read More

Those poisonous Shrek glasses McDonald’s gave to people? Discovered by a blogger!

So why aren’t newspapers and other “bastions of democracy” doing this work instead of bloggers? This kind of news gives more credibility to citizen journalism, and less sympathy to paying traditional media.

Mistermix has the backstory in this Balloon-Juice post: McDonald’s recall of 12 million Shrek glasses containing cadmium was spurred, in part, by an anonymous tip from blogger/author Jennifer Taggert who used a handheld analyzer to zap the glass and read its heavy metal content. Here’s her take on the danger in the glassware. What’s interesting and amazing about this story is that this device, an x-ray fluorescence analyzer, is just a little bigg … Read More
