Nice work! I have never had to use this command, but it is great to know.

Releaselog RLSLOG.net » PS 3 Finally probably Hacked to run “backup” games!. So when companies try to stamp out illegal use like this I wonder how effective they think they will be? Wouldn’t it be better to offer some sort of reward program with free things for people who agree to not download illegal games? Or would that make them “lose” possible sales?

Lexars 128GB Echo SE USB thumb drive continuously backs up your netbook, mobile life — Engadget. It claims that it backs up files in use without any configuration. That is great but what about the rest of the files that are not in use? At $349 this doesn’t seem better than other available options.

Apple – Support – Discussions – LaCie power supply brick died …. I wish that I could have been that lucky with LaCie products. I worked at a place once in which every LaCie product they bought died within a year of purchase. They bought large external firewire connected hard drives. It used to be that LaCie was a great brand.

The solution for rawsaxy:
Well, after making the mistake of adding permissions to internal files on the main hard drive and system folder, I ended up with the Gray Screen and Restart Loop problem. I was able to backup the important files before doing an Erase & Install. Everything is working better than before now. I left the Mac OS at 10.5.2, and guess what? I was able to burn a DVD in iDVD ’08 now! Thank you Lord!

Another two solutions are from this thread.
1. Try another kind of media
2. Use a Computer CD/DVD cleaning pad.

Apple – Support – Discussions – Time Machine says. Interesting. Pondini has the solution below called “Full Reset” of Time Machine.”
1. In Time Machine Preferences, click the Options button. Note anything in the exclusions box, and the settings of other option(s) on that panel. Click Cancel, then turn Time Machine OFF, and quitSystem Preferences.
2. Eject, disconnect, and power-off the drive for a few moments, then reconnect it.
3. Delete the file /Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist (in your top-level Library folder, not your home folder). This will not delete anything in your backups. If you have a problem finding the file, see item #A7.
4. Go back to Time Machine Preferences, re-select the drive, re-enter any exclusions and other options.
5. A 120-second countdown to a backup should appear. If you close the window, it should begin immediately.”

Then it could be a damanged or confused volume that you are trying to backup. Pondini suggestion solved the issue for the poster. “Something is probably corrupted on one of the volumes being backed-up, showing an enormous size. Tryverifying your boot volume, and repairing any others, per #A5 in Time Machine – Troubleshooting (or use the link in User Tips at the top of this forum).
If that doesn’t help, the preferences file may be corrupted. Try a “full reset” per #A4 in the same article.”
This post has the instructions of how to use Amazon s3 to automate backups from the Mac. It has a very useful if slightly dated discussion of the options. This is the first Snapshot or non file-level backup utility that I have seen for Mac. If you have a Mac server and you need maximum up time, you need to buy this app. Retrospect has been disappointing lately, so for $40 this seems like a no-brainer to use.

Seems to happen with any heavy wireless network traffic. DrApa suggests “The “solution” allegedly from someone that had been in contact with AppleCare was to switch to channel 1 in the wifi settings for your Airport network. As I said before, this doesn’t solve the problem completely, but for me it was a huge improvement and now I’m only irritated when Time Machine makes its backups as to before when it was almost unusable during backups.”
