Warren Shaw has a workaround.
Actually, there is a workaround. If you turn of the option to Automatically Retrieve Track Names, load the CD and then under Advanced select Get Track Names, the behavor is then normal. It seems as if the problem is only manifest if the disc is loaded and iTunes tries to retrieve track names at the same time. At least, that is my experience…

Behold the 1,555 iPad Case. So I don’t get it. If you have the money then why have this? If you don’t, then why buy it?
Nice details. Perhaps what we like about Apple is the feeling of essential nature not the complexity of choice.

I’ve used the Pogo with both my iPhone and iPad and it works pretty well however I have gone back to just using a finger as it seems to give me more control. I haven’t used it with any writing or sketching/drawing apps though.
This could be helpful if you make lots of ePub files.
Mike Rankin from InDesignSecrets.com has made some neat little apps using AppleScript for zipping and unzipping ePub, Docx, Indl, and Fla files on Mac computers. These file types are based on the zip file, so they can easily be zipped open with an archive utility (just change the file extension to .zip). However, zipping them back up correctly can be a chore. While we do not have much experience with the other file types, we have worked with ePub … Read More

iTunes 10: iPhone, iPod or iPad Won’t Sync AppleToolbox – Tools, Tips and Fixes for iPhone, Mac, iPad and iPod. Some good steps here. I would start in this order though:
- Delete iTunes .plist
- Remove third-party backup of antivirus software.
- Reinstall iTunes
- Disable network connection
- Switch USB ports
- Restore instead of update.
Robert Pearson suggests this to keep the playlists and music intact.
I played around and found a fix,
Quit iTunes
go to: Users/your home folder(whatever you call it)/Music/iTunes/(here you will see a folder called”Previous iTunes Library”, click on this folder, rename this file “iTunes Library”(remove the “iTunes Library” file from the iTunes folder (usually the file directly below the “Previous iTunes Library” folder/ drag the renamed file to replace this one, restart itunes and Playlists and music should be restored perfectly,
worked for me, now if only the “experts” can work this out ( to share with everyone with this problem) or why this fix is even needed there will a lot of happy customers, good luck
This is interesting. I too am about the same age and had the same experience. To me the touch of things like books, records or CD‘s is something I am ok with letting go and here are the reasons why.
1. There is only so much material and resources in the world. The US has consumed more than its fair share, so if that means that we move towards a more virtual and less material world, that seems helpful to me.
2. Our physical formats limits us. My parents had records and records are fun, but it is hard to keep up the systems for all those physical forms of entertainment. Yes you can buy new record players, but as time goes by it becomes increasingly harder to justify old technology. I knew people who believed in Betamax and bought tapes, and now what have they had to do? Rebuy them on DVD‘s. Physical Media only seems to have a lifetime of 15-20 years from the time it was developed. So are we going to continue to rebuy things or spend the time/energy (materials) to redo our collections?
3. There is a certain elitism in having material goods. When the majority of people are virtual, the fact of having material goods says that you can afford those costs of storage, cleaning, and maintenance. In fact insurance becomes even more important in this scheme, and how many people have lost their physical possessions like records or tapes in a fire or water damage and insurance doesn’t cover it? Physical things have a built-in obsolescent, why try to hang on to what isn’t possible?
4. It can be fun to think of the past and do things in the same ways as in the past, but the world changes and we can evolve with it, or get stuck in patterns that no longer are helpful to ourselves or society. I don’t see any harm in buying old goods if the cost of using them is equal to or less than the cost of using new goods. It’s hard to see however how a record player can be more efficient than an mp3 player no matter how new it is. More moving parts is obviously more resource intensive.
There is nothing wrong in having things. Everyone is free to do as they choose. However considering the current challenges we face now, we could consider the effect our choices have on others and the planet as well as ourselves.
With each passing generation of technology, I marvel at how easy I can go online from any device and buy whatever takes my interest; games, music, videos, photos, and books are all just a click or two away. But what exactly is it that I am buying and what, pray tell, do I own? A few days ago, Apple Inc. debuted the new line of iPods (Touch, Nano, & Shuffle) that I knew my daughter would be interested in. She’s been clinging to her old iPod … Read More

Hello Hans,
Sorry to read none of the suggestions helped. I now recommend you look at deleting the Canon UFR2 from your Mac and then reinstalling it. If you open Finder you can delete the following folders and files. This information is from the Canon UFR2 v2.10 Mac User Guide.
Mac HD > Library > Printers > Canon > UFR2
Mac HD > Library > Launch Agents > jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
Mac HD > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources > en.lproj > CNTD***Z*2*.ppd.gz
(where *** indicates the printer model and 2 indicates the language of driver used)
With all these files deleted and trash emptied, unplug the USB cable to the MF4370dn and restart the Mac. Then run the installer for the v2.10 driver and when it has completed, reconnect the MF4370dn USB cable and open System Preferences > Print & Fax to add the printer queue.

Mac 101: Comprehensive Mac system information. The only purpose I can see this useful for is to inventory your system for insurance purposes. An Apple Store genius or Applecare personel will ask you to directly look for the information they need. An independent Apple tech will find it themselves, and the vast majority of people won’t be bothered by the tedium of doing this after every update or upgrade.
Creative shot. I haven’t ever seen anything like this composition.
Some excuse why this isn’t 64 bit. Is MS spending so much money-making failing phones that it can’t invest in sewing up the Mac market? Seriously they could own the market if Ballmer was paying attention.
