So it appears that just waiting is enough.

Me too. I’m running a mid-2010 Mac Mini with 8GB RAM.

The first couple of times when I tried using the Software Update app, I couldn’t get the download to begin; after I clicked the Agree button, the dialog box closed, but the download never started. The Software Update app was still running, just not doing anything. I’d close the app and tray again with the same results.

Today I tried and the download did download and started to install. When it reach the ‘Registering components’ stage near the end, it appeared to hang at around 98% complete.

Because I was doing onther stuff on my computer, I let it sit there for about 40 minutes. Then, all of a sudden, it finished the install. I’ve opened iTunes and the ‘About’ box tells me I’m running iTunes 10 .4 (80) 64-bit.

So, try again and be patient.

Hi shorafix, you can find appleHDA.kext in Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

just select it, start timemachine a restore old kext from date when you have 10.6.7 installed..

Kernel Panic after the 10.6.8 update?

Mac OS X logo

My machine acted a little strange after the update as well. The menu bar at the top didn’t fill in with color. Once I clicked on it, it appeared normally and has been normal since. However for this person, it seems software that needed updating first was the cause. MacMastery has the answer.

Based on another post I saw, you might need to start into Safe Mode (Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode ) and update your “Metakine – Hands Off!” softwarehttp://www.metakine.com/products/handsoff/releasenotes.html

Seems like their 1.3.1 version fixes a known panic with 10.6.8.

How to Create Mac OS X Services with Automator – TNW Lifehacks. This is a helpful thing to do for people who do routine things on their computer. Most people can benefit from automating at least part of their workflows. I like Applescript too and even made my own script to check for spyware.
