On a personal level yes. Financially the question is harder to show. You do make more according to this graphic, but with interest levels, uncertain job future like the present, it is not an automatic yes. What is more interesting is that people with degrees often have problems getting jobs due to being “overqualified”. Sometimes the perception is that smart people can intimidate others, or they may not have adequate social skills and prefer facts over people.
Its clear from this Google article which one is more cost effective. You really can’t touch the cost of use when Google is offering service. In a financially challenging time companies are questioning if MS is really the best tool for the job.
He bought the Mac Pro after extensive discussions. He originally bought the iMac but said he took it back because it had problems. Since he is a heavy user it will probably suit him well.
So a gentleman is going to consolidate. Just wanted to see what peoples experiences with this was. It is wonderful how mobile computing has become. I have enjoyed my laptop immensely since it was given to me last year. The bottom line seems to go to the MBP due to the faster memory/cpu and possibly disk drive.
Some surprising stories of apple devices that have taken lots of abuse and still work great. Other great stories in the comments as well.
I have been on both sides of this fence. They do slow the network down, but I would also argue that they can motivate people as well. If someone is using it excessively then I would have a talk with them. However the quality of the persons work should make it evident if they know how to manage the time allotted to them.
This is a 14 year old Performa. I had helped a customer who had one of these. Oh what fun times that was. It is really an incredible value isn’t it? You can see the new Apple she bought next to it.
These are some beautiful choices. If you own a home you might want to take a look at some of these. In fact even if you don’t own a home, they might be a good choice for your business. I love the totally enclosed one. Seems more efficient than having an office.
This is a list of 19 things. I don’t agree. I think that there are always less technically savvy folks who won’t make the transition. I mean we still have radio and people buying radios when cheaper or different options exist.
Which one? A review at PCMag.com might help you identify which device is best for you. Oh the hard times we live in and the decisions we are forced to make.
So at that price the Macbook seems like a steal doesn’t it? You can read how he got to this figure and why at The Consumerist.
From Bloomberg.com. It had a quote that was surprising given all the top press from “journalists”. “While many consumers will buy any new gadget with an Apple label, NPD found that 66 percent of consumers — and 60 percent of people who say they currently own an Apple product — “don’t foresee an iPad purchase in their future,” according to an online survey of 2,000 consumers age 18 and older. The survey was done between Feb. 24 and March 3, NPD said.”
Social Networks and Internet is so useful to so many people who aren’t easily able to participate with mainstream society. Not just ill, but rural, poor and others who don’t have the resources and gifts that many of us are lucky to have.
The study was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. You can read more here. It is amazing that 1/3 of americans use library computers!
Since it is 30 years old it makes sense. I wonder who made the decision to keep the shuttles so long? I know they are a big investment but with the two problems that caused so many deaths, maybe money isn’t the best decision making strategy. I look forward to the next generation of space plane. Isn’t the Branson shuttle impressive?
Probably not. I have seen my own connection fluctuate, and even at times go to a fraction of the speed I was paying for. This is worse when the weather is wet in older neighborhoods. Get more educated about it by reading here.
Probably the start of a larger trend. Its getting hard for people to justify the cost of Windows. I thought he had a thoughtful argument here.
From CIO magazine. This survey is from a group that benefits by having more Mac Enterprise adoption. Still if the survey results are true, its worth considering.
You can go to this link. This is great for people with older equipment. Probably makes a bigger difference if you have a PPC laptop like a G4 than a desktop.
This person asks iPad Price is Compelling, but is it Enough? I have an iPhone 3GS and its less than one year old. It cost about $300 and I don’t regret the purchase. I have been able to use many moments in my day that otherwise would have been wasted by having it. So why am I not excited about the iPad?
I am not a hardware guy. I don’t get excited about hardware because most of the time its software that makes or breaks a devices usefulness to me. So the iPad is compatible with all of the iPhone apps. Great. It has iWorks and an onscreen or attachable keyboard. Great. But actually using it? I don’t think so.
One of the great things about a laptop is that the screen supports itself. It is kind of odd to balance that screen and even odder to type on it. If you are a laptop user you know the sometimes weird positions you get into finding a comfortable and ergonomic body position. I can’t imagine how it will be to type on that. I am really disappointed that they didn’t have a projected keyboard, or even come standard with a detached wireless physical keyboard. Now why would someone who wants portability want to lug around an awkward keyboard?
The most disappointing thing though is that they went with the iPhone OS instead of the Apple one. Yeah I know the technical reasons for it. Lower power usage, better battery life, probably less R&D. The obvious downside however is that this is not a laptop replacement. The tablet PCs with Windows can be desktop replacements. This can not be one. If they are going to be innovative, spend the extra time/money to make the OS something that is more versatile. Yes I can understand how difficult it might be to support expensive applications on a limited device, but it would make it much more valuable as well.
Take for example the typical Mac user. They buy a Mac and want it to do a majority of things that are important to them. I don’t think the iPad is going to do that. Office compatibility? Not unless you are going to try to do it through the internet or Google Docs. Ability to act as a “digital hub”? I don’t think so. Mac fanboys wanted something that changed the form factor of the laptop. The laptop is cool, but limited. The battery life, risk of damage and cost make it a luxury item for many people. I work in Apple technologies, and too often they were out of my budget. A device that could be an “entry point” for people who are buying Netbooks currently would only increase Apple market share.
So is the iPad hopeless? No, hopefully Apple will keep it around and continue to explore different UI and form factors for computing. Really they need to take a bold step and work on projection technologies for both input and output. I know that I won’t be buying one, and that is Ok. People didn’t fall for the Air laptop with its limited functionality, and I doubt that they will buy this more limited functionality too.
Yes this has been the case increasingly since 2001. Companies feel that cutting IT staff is an easy way to balance the budget. Proper IT staff can help reduce costs when they are given a chance to make their case.
Now that is love. I’d use two MacBook Pros if I had it. Oh well. Giving really is the best gift.
Is this title to the response to Mr. Woz solution for iPhone battery issues.

I just remembered! When I was in the Apple store the other day I overheard some employees talking. He asked if they would price match a price from MacMall. (They are a mail order distributor) The employee said yes they would price match. So go in with a competing offer and see if they will price match!

The reviewer isn’t wild about it. It is fast, but the print quality is substandard for its class and the cost per page is more expensive than others about 2.4cents per page with the included toner. It goes to 1.8 cents for the high capacity toner. Works with Macs or PCs. Click here to read more.
