How can Macs have cached logins in Active Directory environnent?

JamesSTJ asks the question here and Csound1 has the answer. It doesn’t require advanced server configuration, but it does automate it if you approach it from that angle.

In Directory Utility, click Active Directory and then Edit (pencil icon), Show Advanced Options, and check “Create mobile account at login”.

Log on and off, unplug from the network, then log back in.
